Building a new home for inpatient hospice care required more than a highly functional medical facility — it needed to feel welcoming and comfortable for patients and their families. Southway joined the project early in design, providing conceptual budgeting and comprehensive preconstruction services before delivering the new two-story facility at Stadium Place.

Constructed within an active 30-acre community, the new 22-suite center includes 18 private adult suites and four pediatric suites, along with family-focused spaces designed to provide comfort and respite close to patients’ rooms. Southway coordinated construction of the specialized facility, including a double-height lobby, secure patient wing, family dining room, business center, meditation room, and living room.

The new facility provides a dedicated home for Gilchrist’s inpatient residential hospice and respite care, including Maryland’s only pediatric inpatient hospice unit.
