Lexington Market

We were honored to play a key role in the revitalization of Lexington Market, a cherished Baltimore institution with over 200 years of history. Understanding the importance of community and historical significance, we collaborated with Seawall, City of Baltimore, and BCT Design Group to ensure that the market’s transformation reflected the diverse needs of its patrons. Our efforts focused on constructing a new 53,000-square-foot market building, designed to echo the early 1900s market shed while integrating modern infrastructure and amenities. The new building is located on a lot adjacent to the original building, which allowed for the reopening of historic Lexington Street as a pedestrian plaza with outdoor seating, event space, and public art. This project is a testament to Southway’s commitment to preserving history while fostering community development and economic growth.
