Southway is a Construction Manager servicing public, private and non-profit clients. Over the years, we may have grown in size and expertise, but our culture of quality, dependability and integrity has remained steadfast.
Why Work for Southway?
Southway offers a dynamic work environment with great potential for personal development and career growth. Our collaborative team-oriented approach offers on the job learning and mentoring on a diverse portfolio of challenging projects including adaptive reuse, historic preservation, renovations, and new construction.
Southway offers a rigorous internship program for candidates to apply knowledge gained in the classroom to a variety of challenging construction projects. Over the course of a summer, our interns rotate through three project assignments gaining a well-rounded experience of the various aspects of construction. One of the rotations is with our preconstruction team gaining firsthand experience including conceptual budgeting, quantity takeoffs, subcontractor outreach, and final pricing. The other two rotations provide hands-on learning in the field through a project management track as well as a superintendent track.
Interns will also be assigned a special project to work on together throughout the summer, which gets presented to the leadership team at the end of the program. Past projects have included a mock response to a Request for Proposal, design ideas to renovate an office space, and the development of a safety training video for use on the jobsite. This experience provides interns with additional exposure to the various aspects of the construction industry.
If you are interested in applying for our program, please apply for an internship under current opportunities (link to current opportunities below). Internships are typically posted by the end of January. Interviews will be conducted through the end of March when positions are finalized for the upcoming summer program.
I joined Southway shortly after obtaining my degree in Construction Management. The entire team is willing to help and mentor new employees and ensure their success. This has afforded me great opportunities for professional and personal growth in a relatively short period of time. I’m confident I made the right decision by joining the Southway family.
I joined Southway as a Project Engineer immediately following graduation. Working on a variety of projects with a diverse group of experienced professionals provided me with opportunities to expand and develop my skills and ultimately earn a promotion to Project Manager. I envision a long-term career at Southway being a family-oriented company that’s invested in my future and has a passion for giving back and building up the communities in which we work.
Southway is much larger and more sophisticated than it was when I started 18 years ago, however, our core values and beliefs have remained the same. Working for a company that is trustworthy, acts with integrity, and values a balanced work-family life is why I’ve stayed all these years. I continue to appreciate the opportunity for added responsibility and taking on new challenges while helping the company grow and improve.
