Lewinsville Retirement Residences in McLean, Virginia, is a 143-unit garden apartment complex affiliated with the Lewinsville Presbyterian Church. Originally established in 1980, the community recently underwent substantial renovations to enhance its amenities and safety features. Among the upgrades were the complete modernization of nine handicapped-accessible units, improvements to common areas, and the installation of new building systems, including a modern sprinkler system. Additional site work made the complex more ADA-compliant, featuring new parking configurations and sidewalk repairs. Individual apartments were also upgraded with new HVAC systems, patio and balcony rails, windows, and sliding doors. Crucially, residents were able to continue living in their units during the renovations, which were financed through an FHA 223 loan that leveraged the property’s enhanced equity.
