Southway Joins Forces With BridgePoint General Contracting

Baltimore, MD: Southway Builders, Inc. (Southway) today announced that it has joined forces with BridgePoint General Contracting, a general contractor based in Durham, N.C. Matt Bolyard, Southway Senior Vice President – Southeast, and Shelley McPhatter, founder of BridgePoint will lead the company’s Durham office.

Founded in 2007, BridgePoint initially opened as a construction services company and transitioned to BridgePoint General Contracting in 2012. It has built a strong reputation as a full-service construction company throughout the Triangle region under the leadership of founder Shelley McPhatter. McPhatter has nearly 30 years of experience in the commercial construction industry in the Triangle and is widely recognized as a leader in her field. She was inducted into the North Carolina Women Business Owners Hall of Fame and has been honored with the Triangle Business Journal’s Women in Business Award and 40 Under 40 Award.
By joining forces, both organizations aim to deliver enhanced value, broaden service offerings, and accelerate growth opportunities for employees, customers, and partners.

Southway, a Baltimore-based construction management firm serving public, private and non-profit clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic, opened a North Carolina office in 2023 under the leadership of Matt Bolyard and continues to expand into the region. Bolyard has been with Southway for nearly 20 years.
BridgePoint will remain in Durham under the leadership of Matt Bolyard and Shelley McPhatter. McPhatter will now assume the role of Vice President of Southeast Operations at Southway.
